Evoworx Hosts Django Seattle

Evoworx Hosts Django Seattle
June 16, 2009 Aaron Goldfeder

It’s no big secret that our web platform of choice at Evoworx is Django. There’s a lot of things that we like about it and it’s motto of being the web framework for “Perfectionists with Deadlines” just rings a chord with our team.

About two weeks ago Evoworx hosted the first meeting of the Seattle Django User Group. Brian Gershon of Web Collective and Leo Shklovskii came up with the idea of gathering all of the folks using and interested in Django in Seattle and put together the initial meeting. About 25 people showed up to chat, eat pizza and hear a presentation talking about the basics of Django and comparing it to other frameworks.

Brian compared some of Plone’s features with Django and Kevin Moore helped out tremendously by adding some Rails flavor to the discussion and sharing with us the hotness that is HAML and SASS. Some of the people at the meetup had been using Python for years while others were just getting into HTML, CSS and the web in general. We discussed a number of great ideas for future presentations to the group and decided on the next meeting date: July 14th.
