College Station Utilities offers an incentive for residential customers to install energy efficient HVAC equipment through the Energy Back II Program. To qualify for the rebate, the A/C system must be a minimum of 14 SEER or higher. Both the evaporator coil (inside unit) and the condensing unit (outside unit) must be replaced as a matching system as rated in the Air-Conditioning & Refrigeration Institute directory. Units must be installed in accordance with the current ICC building and City of College Station Codes, and the equipment and installation must be inspected by a City of College Station building inspector and approved by College Station Utilities Energy Conservation Division prior to payment of rebate. More information, including rebate application, may be found on the web site listed above.
College Station Utilities also offers a compact florescent lighting program to residential customers. Each household will receive a $1 credit on electricity bills for each CFL installed in their home, up to 4 CFLs per year.
