Springfield Utility Board (SUB) offers a rebate program targeting heat pumps, weatherization measures and various household appliances. A rebate of $500 is available to residential customers in manufactured or site built homes for the purchase of qualifying air-source or geothermal heat pumps. A $1,500 rebate is also available to residential customers for qualifying ductless heat pumps. In addition to heat pump incentives, a rebate totaling 50% of the cost of insulation measures is available to residential customers in manufactured, site-built, or multi-family complexes for ceiling, floor, and wall insulation. A rebate of 100% of the insulation measure is available to limited income customers.
Clothes washers, water heaters, refrigerators and freezers, as well as refigerator and freezer recycling, are also eligible for rebates between $25 and $80. Appliances must meet all efficiency and program requirements in order to receive incentives. View the program web site for forms and instructions for these pieces of equipment.
Customers interested in participating in the heat pump or weatherization program should obtain bids from contractors listed on the program web site. They must then submit the bids along with the application form to the utility before purchase or installation can begin. Applications for all measures and equipment can be found on the program web site listed above.
