New Hampshire Electric Co-Op provides a number of energy efficiency incentive programs for residential members. First, members can receive a free Home Energy Analysis through the Home Performance with Energy Star Program. The analysis will examine the home's air sealing, insulation, equipment thermostats and insulation, as well as the energy consumption of the home's refrigerator. The NHEC representative may recommend certain improvements during the evaluation and offer 50% off the cost of the improvements up to a total of $4,000. An interest-free loan is available to help cover the remaining out-of-pocket costs for customers.
Homes, lighting, and appliances are also eligible for a variety of incentives. To qualify for the Energy Star Home rebate, the home must be a new or completely renovated existing single-family or multi-family home, located in the Co-op's service territory, which meets certain design specifications. Some restrictions apply to individual rebate offers.
NHEC also provides rebates to customers who install new or upgraded air source or geothermal heat pumps. The rebate is worth $2,000 for a new energy efficient air source heat pump and $800 per ton, up to a maximum of $4,500, for geothermal heat pumps. Homes must meet EPA Energy Star standards in order to qualify. The completed application and plans must be submitted prior to construction. The web site contains a list of qualified HVAC vendors and installers, as well as further program details.
