Platte-Clay Electric Cooperative offers a variety of rebates to residential and commercial customers who wish to upgrade to energy efficient equipment. Newly installed ground source heat pumps are eligible for a $750 per ton rebate. This rebate amount also covers the replacement of existing propane, natural gas, air source or electric resistance heating units. Existing geothermal systems which are replaced may receive a rebate of $150 per ton. Units greater than 10 tons must be pre-approved before installation to participate in the rebate program.

In addition, the co-op provides rebates for Energy Star room air conditioners, clothes washers and dishwashers. Energy Star ratings are the minimum standards for rebate qualification. Energy efficient compact fluorescent and LED light bulbs may also be available to members at a reduced price. These programs are subject to change at any time.

The utility also implements the Take Control and Save Rebate program developed by Associated Electric Cooperative, Inc., Platte-Clay's power supplier, which provides rebates for many different types of Energy Star rated appliances.

* Rebate program qualifications include minimum of R-38 attic and R-13 wall insulation and an electric hot water storage unit. Units are subject to load control, should the co-op institute such a program. Member must complete the rebate form, available online at www.pcec.coop in the Manage Energy area and include a copy of the invoice. All HVAC and water storage units in the Platte-Clay program are subject to inspection.
