Sacramento Municipal Utility District offers incentives for its residential customers to purchase and install energy efficient equipment and measures for the home. A rebate chart of eligible products and equipment is on the SMUD program web site listed above. Equipment requirements may be found on the rebate chart and must be met by all participating customers. The Home Performance Program requires that a home energy evaluation be performed to determine the most effective efficiency measures to utilize. Contact SMUD for more information on this comprehensive home efficiency offering. SMUD also offers $35 to customers who safely recycle old working refrigerators and supplies free shade trees.
Additionally, homeowners may participate in the Neighborhood Efficiency Program, which targets neighborhoods of similarly constructed homes for energy upgrades. Home energy upgrades are offered in three different packages which will suit varying needs. One contractor will be identified for the entire neighborhood and will complete the work utilizing bulk discounts wherever available. Contact SMUD for specific information on this program.
