Redding Electric Utility offers a variety of financial incentives for energy efficiency through its Earth Advantage Rebate Program. Rebates are for ENERGY STAR rated appliances, weatherization measures, HVAC equipment, renewable energy sources, and lighting equipment. Rebates are limited to upgrades and efficiency improvements on existing equipment. Rebate applications and further program guidelines are available on REU's web site. Those customers below 80% of median income levels could qualify for higher rebates if they contact REU and fill out the application on the web site.
Additionally, the Home Performance Program offers an alternative to single-item equipment purchases by providing a comprehensive solution for the entire home. Select contractors will perform testing and analysis on a variety of energy consuming household equipment, identifying opportunities for energy savings throughout the home. Up to $9,000 in incentives is available through this program. Measures often include HVAC system removal and replacement, HVAC right-sizing, increased insulation levels and optimization of whole house ventilation systems.
