Western Massachusetts Electric is still offering $50 rebates on ENERGY STAR refrigerators and freezers! The program is set to last until Dec. 31, 2010. To apply, download the ENERGY STAR appliance rebate form.

If you’re interested in other ways to improve you home’s energy efficiency, you may want to consider having some insulation and air sealing installed in your home. This can make a big difference on your utility bills, and through 2010 the federal government is offering a tax credit equal to 30 percent of the cost of the insulation through the Residential Energy Efficiency Tax Credit.
