We replaced a propane furnace with a energy efficient natural gas furnace with 95% efficiency rating. Are there any rebates available?

Unfortunately, Progress Energy doesn't have rebates for efficient furnaces - their rebate programs are all centered around heat pumps.

So the best bet for your furnace is the federal government offers a tax credit of up to $1,500 or 30 percent of the equipment and installation costs of high-efficiency furnaces. To find out if your appliance qualifies and how to apply, check out this page on the EnergySavvy website.

If you're interested in making further energy efficiency upgrades, you might consider solar hot water as your your next step. You can also use the federal tax credit for renewable energy systems (30% of the equipment and installation costs).
