Is there a 2009 tax credit for energy-efficient appliances or washer/dryers in Colorado? I live in Adams County, CO.

It doesn’t look like Colorado offers any energy efficiency tax credits, however, the federal government offers a credit of up to $1,500 for buying energy-efficient appliances like furnaces, air conditioners, water heaters and more through the Residential Energy Efficiency Tax Credit.

Also, starting in March 2010, Colorado will offer mail-in rebates on clothes washers, dishwashers, refrigerators, water heaters, furnaces and boilers. The program is set to last until the funds run out, so make sure to buy your appliances early. Usually these programs aren't retroactive, so it's unlikely that a 2009 purchase will qualify for the rebate. But you should check with them to make sure.

One other place to check. Appliance rebates are often offered by utility providers as well. Check out our incentive listings to find your utility and see what they've got on tap.
