If you purchase an efficient electric heating system in Pennsylvania, you may be able to take advantage of the federal tax credit. The tax credit is equal to 30 percent up to $1,500 of what you spend, and it is available until the end of the year for the purchase and installation of high efficiency heating systems. The only electric models available are "air-source heat pumps," and the model you install must meet the energy efficiency requirements.
If I replace my electric heater with an energy efficient model, is there a rebate or tax credit in Pennsylvania? If so, how much?
Since electric heaters are by their nature efficient, it sounds as though you're considering gas, oil or propane. You should also give strong consideration to a heat pump.
The following links are for energy rebate programs currently in place with the caution that the DOE program ends on Dec. 31, 2010.
