Are there any tax credits available for installing new skylights in my house?

Yes! If your new skylights have a U-factor of 0.30 or less and an SHGC rating of 0.30 or less, then you qualify for the Federal Residential Energy Efficiency Tax Credit. The credit will cover 30 percent (up to $1,500) of the cost the skylights.

If you don’t use all of the $1,500 on the skylights, you can use the rest on other projects that will make your home more energy efficient, like installing new windows and doors, adding insulation and upgrading older appliances such as a water heater or a furnace.
