There are many different renewable energy rebates for installing renewable energy sources on your home in Pinellas County, Florida. Both Tampa Electric and Progress Energy offer programs to encourage homeowners to invest in renewable energy sources.

Tampa Electric allocates $1.5 million in rebates each year to encourage customers to install solar photovoltaic and solar water heating systems. Residential customers can receive up to $1,000 for installation of a new solar water heating system. In addition, homeowners who install solar photovoltaic systems can receive up to $2 per watt, with a limit of $20,000, for a system installed and connected to Tampa Electric’s grid.

Progress Energy’s SunSense Solar Rebate Programs offer rebates of up to $20,000 for installing a solar photovoltaic system on a home. All funding has been reserved for 2012, but the program allocates $1,000,000 each year through 2014, so check back on Progress Energy’s SunSense website to check on future funding.

In addition, the SunSense solar water heating program offers a rebate of up to $550 for new solar hot water heaters and up to $60 in EnergyWise Home program credits each year. Those rebates combine with a built-in savings of up to 85 percent on water heating costs that derives from using a solar hot water heater.
