I am concerned about ice dams. Are there any rebates for insulation and air sealing in Ramsey County, MN?

Depending on who your natural gas and electric utilities are, there may be rebates available for making improvements. An energy assessment by a certified energy auditor is typically required for the rebate program. St. Croix Energy Solutions Inc. works with several programs in the Twin Cities metro and help get you started in reducing the ice dam issues.

Thanks,

Yes, there are currently rebates available. Many require a Home Energy audit before and after the installation. Regardless, you should have an audit/assessment to make sure that you only get what you need. This should be done by a third party independent energy auditor who is not trying to sell you anything. Ice dam issues are caused by either warm air entering the attic and melting snow from the roof thus causing the ice dam at the edge of your roof, or from inadequate ventilation in your attic to keep the attic cool. The attic should be near the same temperature as the outside temperature.
