There are rebates for high efficiency furnaces, air conditioners and thermostats from a few different sources in Atlanta.
If you’re an Atlanta Gas Light customer and you purchased your furnace before June 30, 2010, you may qualify for a rebate up to $300 if it’s a gas furnace. If a Georgia Home Performance with ENERGY STAR contractor completed a thermostat installation, you may also be eligible for a $100 thermostat rebate from Georgia Power.
Finally, depending on the efficiency of your furnace, you may qualify for the federal energy efficiency income tax credit equal to 30 percent up to $1,500 of the cost of your new furnace and AC and the installation costs. You can claim this credit on your 2010 tax returns as long as you purchased and installed the equipment in 2010.
