There are several programs currently offering energy efficiency rebates in Tucson, Arizona.
If you are a residential customer of Southwest Gas Corporation (SWG), you may be eligible for one of the rebates offered for energy efficiency upgrades. Qualifying equipment includes natural gas storage and tankless water heaters, clothes washers, natural gas clothes dryers, programmable thermostats and smart low-flow showerheads. Rebate values vary depending on efficiency and range from $50 to $200. Rebates are limited to two of each qualifying measure per customer each calendar year.
Sulphur Springs Valley Electric Cooperative (SSVEC) offers heating rebates to its members. A $500 rebate is offered for both package heat pump systems with a SEER rating of 15 or higher and split system heat pumps with a SEER rating of 16 or higher. A $200 rebate is offered for dual fuel heat pump systems (an electric heat pump with a SEER rating of 16 and a gas furnace with 80 percent efficiency for back-up heating). SSVEC also offers a $100 rebate for electric water heaters with an efficiency rating of 0.93 or higher.
Finally, the Federal Government offers a tax credit equal to 10 percent of the cost, up to $500, for energy efficiency upgrades. While the 10 percent only applies to equipment when improving your home's envelope (doors, windows, etc.), it applies to both equipment and installation when purchasing high-efficiency heating, cooling and water-heating equipment. Some heating and cooling equipment have individual caps. For example, the credit for water heaters is limited to $300.
