Within the Keystone HELP Energy Efficiency Loan Program, there are several loan options to choose from. The maximum low-interest loan available to people with household incomes of $150,000 or less is $35,000. Interest rates range from 3.875 percent to 6.99 percent and terms range from three to 10 years. Detailed directions on how to apply for the loan can be found on EnergySavvy.com.
One thing to keep in mind is that replacing windows purely for energy efficiency reasons may not be the most cost-effective measure you can take. If you’d like a list of upgrades that will be effective in lowering your utility bills, answer a few questions about your home and get some recommended upgrades from our online energy audit tool as well as an estimate of how much money you can save through the upgrades.
If you install new energy-efficient windows, you should also take advantage of the federal Residential Energy Efficiency Tax Credit. Through this credit, you can save 30 percent up to $1,500 of the cost of your new windows. In order to qualify, the windows will need to have an SGHC and U factor of 0.3 or less.
