Are there still rebates available for high efficiency boilers and water heaters in Essex County, Massachusetts?

You may be able to take advantage of several rebate programs in Essex County, MA for high efficiency heating units.

Columbia Gas of Massachusetts offers its residential customers a variety of rebates for the installation of energy efficient heating units including furnaces, boilers and water heaters.

All three utilities offer rebates through the GasNetworks program. Rebates range from $400-$800 for efficient furnaces, $500-$1,500 for efficient natural gas boilers, $1,000-$1,600 for combined boiler and water heating units and $50-$800 for efficient water heaters.

Finally, the federal tax credit has been extended for the 2011 tax year. The tax credit will cover 10 percent, up to $500, of the cost of certain energy efficiency upgrades. The most you can receive for oil or gas furnace and boilers is $150, and the most you can receive for a water heater is $300. To qualify, all furnace and boilers must have an AFUE rating of 95 percent or higher.
