I purchased a quick recovery 40-gallon gas water heater. Does it qualify for any rebates, tax credits or other incentives?

Depending on the efficiency of your quick recovery gas water heater, you may qualify for a few rebates from different Iowa utilities. Black Hills Energy offers customers a $75 rebate on efficient water heaters that are 40 gallons are larger and have less than or equal to 75,000 BTUH. Also, the Energy Factor must range from 0.67 to 0.79.

Interstate Power and Light (Alliant Energy) has rebates for natural gas water heaters. If the water heater you installed has an Energy Factor of 0.62 or greater, you may qualify for a $75 rebate, and if it has a thermal efficiency of 90 percent or greater, you can get a $300 rebate.

Mid-American Energy will also give $75 rebates for efficient natural gas water heaters with an Energy Factor ranging from 0.62-0.79.
