How does PPL Electric's ePower Home Assessment program work?

Homeowner in Harrisburg, PA (Posted on April 6, 2011)

Through PPL Electric’s ePower program, you can choose from a few different assessment options. If you’re looking for a “quick and dirty” energy survey of your home, which would include a walk through evaluation along with the installation of several free CFL’s, a smart power strip, faucet aerators and water heater pipe insulation (up to a $50 value). PPL Electric refers to this assessment as the Home Energy Survey.

On the other hand, if you’d like to have a professional auditor go through your home top to bottom and thoroughly test it for its energy use, you might want to go with the Home Energy Audit. The cost of this audit can range from $350-$650, but your auditor may be able to identify several thousand dollars worth of savings for you on your utility bills. They will also test areas of your home for safety and air quality. Additionally, PPL Electric offers a rebate ranging from $150 to $250 for this audit depending on if you have electric heating and cooling or just electric cooling. They also offer more rebates if you follow through with the energy saving upgrade recommendations your auditor gives you.

Finally, if you’re living on a low or fixed income, you may be eligible for another program called the Winter Relief Assistance Program (WRAP).
