Pepco offers its Appliance Rebate Program to encourage customers to use less energy through appliance upgrades. In addition, Pepco offers discounts on ENERGY STAR qualified light bulbs, as well as rebates for HVAC tune-ups or replacement.


The Appliance Rebate Program offers rebates to customers upgrading to ENERGY STAR qualified refrigerators, ENERGY STAR qualified room air conditioners, or electric water heaters with an Energy Factor (EF) or .93 or greater. The potential rebates are:

• ENERGY STAR Qualified Refrigerator: $50 (limit 1/customer)
• ENERGY STAR Qualified Room Air Conditioner: $25 (limit /customer)
• Electric Water Heater - .93 Efficiency Factor: $20 (limit 1/customer)

Pepco’s Lighting Program offers discounts on ENERGY STAR qualified Compact Florescent Light Bulbs (CFLs). Customers can save $1.50 on each single CFL and $3.00 on multipacks with a limit of 25 bulbs per customer. CFLs must be purchased at qualifying retailers.


The Heating, Ventilation & Air Conditioning (HVAC) Efficiency Program offers rebates for the tune-up of electric central air conditioning or air source heat pump systems and for the purchase and installation of high-efficiency HVAC system replacements. The rebate amounts are as follows:

• Electric Central A/C or Electric Air Source Heat Pump System Tune-Up: $100
• Replacing Electric Central A/C ≥ 15 SEER & ≥ 11.5 EER: $150
• Replacing Electric Central A/C ≥ 15 SEER & ≥ 12.5 EER: $300
• Replacing Electric Air Source Heat Pump ≥ 14 SER & ≥ 11.5 EER & ≥ 8.5 HSPF: $200

Finally, Pepco’s Home Performance with ENERGY STAR Program offers up to $1,200 in rebates for energy efficiency upgrades that achieve at least at 20% improvement in a home’s energy efficiency. Participants work with certified contractors to complete a comprehensive home energy assessment, which determines what upgrades would be eligible to reach the 20% benchmark.
