Homeowner in New York, NY (Posted on Dec. 29, 2010)

National Grid gas customers are eligible for $10 per ENERGY STAR window they install. The maximum rebate is $500, and the windows must have a U-factor of 0.35 or less to qualify.

If you're interested in taking a more whole-home approach, NYSERDA offers the New York Home Performance with ENERGY STAR program, which will cover 10 percent of the cost up to a total of $3,000 in rebates for energy efficiency improvements ranging from new windows to attic insulation and air sealing.

Finally, you may be eligible for a $200 tax credit from the federal government. The 2011 energy efficiency income tax credit will equal 10 percent of the cost of your ENERGY STAR windows up to $200 total.
