In Duval County, Florida, the rebate that you can receive for updating to a new heat pump system varies depending on your utility provider and on the specifications of your new system.
Beaches Energy Services offers AC Heat pump rebates of $100 for systems with a SEER value of 14 and $300 for systems with a SEER value of 15 or higher to residential customers. You could also consider taking advantage of the $300 rebate offered for ceiling insulation upgrades. Insulation can help maintain a comfortable temperature in your home, making your heating and cooling system even more efficient. Rebate applications must be submitted within 60 days of project completion.
Clay Electric Cooperative (CEC) also offers energy efficiency rebates to residential members who make efficiency improvements to their primary residence, including upgrading heat pump systems and insulation. To qualify for the ceiling insulation rebate, which is equal to $0.11 per square foot, the existing level of insulation must be less than R-19. The heat pump rebate amount varies from $100 to $500 depending on the size and SEER rating of the new system.
Additionally, Florida Power and Light (FPL) offers rebates to residential customers who replace their heat pump or air conditioning system with a more efficient one or add ceiling insulation. Rebate amounts range from $140-$1,930 depending on the efficiency and size of the new system. Also, the FPL Building Envelope Program offers rebates for ceiling insulation upgrades. In order to qualify for the rebate, the insulation upgrade must be recommended through an FPL energy audit.
Finally, if you owe money on your taxes, you may qualify for the energy efficiency federal tax credit. The credit is equal to $300 for ENERGY STAR rated air source heat pumps.
