It depends which Las Angeles County utility you purchase your electricity from, whether it's a municipal utility or a larger California utility, you'll need to contact them directly to get an application to apply for your rebate.

LADWP

Los Angeles Department of Water and Power offers $50 rebates for ENERGY STAR room air conditioners and $100-$120 rebates for high efficiency central ACs. The rebate amount for central ACs is determined by the efficiency of the system.

SCE

Customers of Southern California Edison may be eligible for up to $50 in rebates for room ACs. To apply, purchase a qualifying model and apply by mail.

Burbank Water & Power

ENERGY STAR room air conditioners purchased in Burbank by Burbank Water & Power customers may be eligible for rebates of $75. The rebates drop to $50 if they're purchased outside of Burbank.

Glendale Water and Power

Similar to the Burbank program, Glendale Water and Power offers two levels of rebates for ENERGY STAR room ACs and central air conditioner systems depending on whether or not the equipment is purchased within Glendale or not. The highest rebate for room ACs is $60 and the highest rebate for central ACs is $125.

Federal Tax Credit

Last but not least, the federal government offers a tax credit for high efficiency central air conditioner systems. The credit is equal to 10 percent of the system cost up to $300. This credit is only available to customers who have not previously used $500 or more of the federal energy efficiency tax credit.
