With all types of programs offered (tax credits, loans, grants, loan guarantees, etc.) what all can I use to receive the most money back from the federal & state level to offset a geothermal heat pump installation? Or maybe just a new hybrid water heater.

The DCED in Pennsylvania offers the High Performance Building Program for remodeling your home with energy efficiency improvements. DCED offers loans, grants and loan guarantees. To find out how much you qualify for, you'll need to contact the High Performance Building Program.

Additionally, theKeystone HELP Energy Efficiency Program offers low-interest loans of up to $35,000 for homeowners who make energy efficiency improvements to their such as a new water heater or a geothermal heat pump.

Finally, the federal government will cover 30 percent of the cost of geothermal heat pumps through the Residential Renewable Energy Efficiency Tax Credit. There is no max credit and leftover credit can be carried forward to future tax years.
