There aren’t any federal tax credits available for clothes washers at this time, but starting April 22, 2010, California will be offering the Cash for Appliances mail-in rebate program for ENERGY STAR clothes washers ($100), refrigerators ($200) and room air conditioners ($200) bought between April 22, 2010 and May 23, 2010.

The U.S. Residential Energy Efficiency Tax Credit will cover 30 percent of the costs up to $1,500 for energy-efficient heat pumps, furnaces, air conditioners, insulation, water heaters, windows, skylights, doors and roofs.

Also, if you’re an SDG&E customer, you can take advantage of the Residential Energy Efficiency Rebate program, which has rebates ranging from $30-$200 available for clothes washers and other energy-efficient appliances like air conditioners, water heaters and refrigerators.
