There are three loan programs available to Iowa residents that you may want to look into. First, the Low-Interest Energy Efficiency Loan Program offered by Alliant Energy provides residential loans on energy efficiency measures at no interest for 12-month loans and 6.9 percent interest for loans with longer terms.

Second, if you’re interested in renewable energy systems, you may want to consider the Alternate Energy Revolving Loan Program administered by the Iowa Energy Center. This loan is offered to homeowners who would like to install a solar, biomass, wind or small hydropower systems.

Finally, the federal government offers Energy Efficient Mortgages for homeowners who would like to make any energy efficiency improvements on their homes. These loans are offered through Fanny May and Freddie Mac, the Federal Housing Authority and Veterans Affairs.
