Duke Energy’s Residential Energy Efficiency Rebate Program offers $200 rebates for Duke Energy customers who buy air conditioners with a SEER rating of 14 or higher. If you’re interested in receiving this rebate, you’ll need to hire a program-approved contractor to install your new system. Once your system is installed, your contractor will complete and submit your rebate application.

If you’re a Union Power Cooperative customer, you may be eligible for a loan of up to $7,500 to help you install a new air conditioner. Additionally, the federal government offers a federal tax equal to 30 percent up to $1,500 of the cost of a new air conditioner along with installation costs. To qualify for the federal Residential Energy EFficiency Tax Credit, you’ll need to purchase an air conditioner with a SEER 16 rating or higher if your system is split and a SEER 14 or higher if your system is packaged.
