The Efficiency Kansas Revolving Loan Program is a loan offered to homeowners who would like to make their homes more energy efficient. The maximum loan for homeowners is $20,000 with a 4 percent interest rate and terms up to 15 years.

To get started, you will need to have your home audited for energy efficiency by a professional, program-approved energy auditor. The first 1,000 participants may be eligible for a $350 rebate for the cost of the audit. The audit will identify the areas of your home that could be cost-effectively improved and provide you with an Energy Conservation Plan.

Next, you will need to have a contractor provide you with a bid for the project. Send the bid along with the Energy Conservation Plan to the Kansas State Energy Office for approval. Once approved, the contractor can complete the energy efficiency upgrades. After the upgrades are complete, your auditor will inspect the installations to ensure that you will see a drop in the cost of your utility bills and a boost in the comfort of your home.
