EnergySavvy.com is unaware of any such rebate from Marion County, but the federal government offers a tax credit equal to 30 percent up to $1,500 of the equipment and installation costs for electric heat pump water heaters. To qualify, your new heat pump water heater needs to have an Energy Factor or 2 or better, and it must be installed on your primary U.S. residence.
You may still want to consider a solar water heater because there are a few different incentives in the Marion County area. Clay Electric Cooperative offers low-interest loans for solar water heaters, and Ocala Utility Services offers $450 rebates for solar water heaters. Progress Energy Florida also offers a $450 rebate for solar water heaters as a credit on Progress Energy Florida utility bills.
Finally, the federal government offers a 30 percent rebate on solar water heaters as well, but unlike the heat pump water heater rebates, there is no upper limit. Additionally, you can receive this credit if the system is installed on your primary or secondary U.S. home.
