The Federal Energy Efficiency Tax Credit does not cover dishwashers. However, through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009, Washington state is offering the Cash for Appliances program, which provides limited-time rebates on refrigerators ($75) and clothes washers ($100).
Seattle City Light also offers rebates up to $100 on clothes washers and $30 on refrigerators. Puget Sound Energy offers up to $100 on clothes washers as well. Check with your utility provider to see if you can combine the utility rebates with the Recovery Act rebates to maximize the money you can save on a new, energy-efficient refrigerator or clothes washer.
