I am a senior citizen in my own small home built around 1950. I am considering adding blown insulation. I should get an energy audit. What will it cost? Any rebates? I live in Putnam Valley, NY.

An Energy Audit from a BPI Certified Professional, with an infrared camera scan, should be done before any home improvement project so the auditor can recommend the best solution for home energy reduction and maximize the savings.

The cost of the audits vary based on your home size and what kind of appliances you have but are generally in the range of $299-500.

There are energy rebates and tax credits for the energy improvement work (like insulation and other efficiency upgrades) which the auditor will explain to you.
