There aren’t any rebates for turning your wood-burning fireplace into a gas-burning unit in Alameda County; however, the U.S. government offers a Residential Energy Efficiency Tax Credit for biomass burning stoves, so, if possible, you may want to consider converting your fireplace into a biomass stove.
Biomass stoves generally burn agricultural bi-products, wood pellets, residues and fibers. The tax credit will cover 30 percent of the cost up to $1,500 as long as the stove has a 75 percent thermal efficiency rating or better.
