Philadelphia residents can take advantage of PECO Energy's $300 rebates for high efficiency gas furnaces with 90 percent efficiency (AFUE) ratings or higher. To qualify for the rebate, you’ll need to be a PECO customer.

If you purchase a 95 percent efficient furnace, not only will you qualify for the rebate, but you’ll also qualify for the federal residential energy efficiency tax credit equal to 30 percent of the cost of equipment and installation for 95 percent efficient gas furnaces. The maximum credit is $1,500.

If you’re looking for a way to finance the upfront cost of the furnace, look into the Keystone HELP Energy Efficiency Loan Program. These loans, which can be made up to $35,000, will cover high efficiency heating equipment as well as many other home energy efficiency improvements.
