There are a couple rebates and tax credits for high efficiency furnaces in the Los Angeles area. First, if you're a customer of Southern California Gas Company, you may qualify for a $200 natural gas furnace rebate. Find out if your furnace qualifies.

Second, if you haven't yet taken advantage of the federal governments energy efficiency credit, you may qualify for up to $150. The credit can't be greater than 10 percent of the actual furnace cost.

The overall cap for the federal tax credit is $500, so if you're interested in saving energy in other areas of your home, you may want to make other improvements so you claim the last of the credit.
